About Me
The beautiful state of California is my home. I was born in San Diego, attended primary school in Orange County, and secondary school in Sacramento. I am truly the definition of a hybrid Californian.
In 2007 I left my home state to play NCAA lacrosse and study international studies at Ohio Wesleyan University. After graduation, I spent some time in sales but realized it was not my passion. So I quit my job, saved every penny I had, and purchased a one-way ticket to Santiago, Chile. What at the time felt like a whimsical journey with no timeline and only the broad focus of learning more about the cultures and regions of South America turned into a life abroad. I spent 8 months slowly traveling while working for room and board in hostels until accepting a teaching position with a Colombian government initiative to raise the level of English in public schools attended by students from lower economic backgrounds.
After accepting this teaching position in 2016, I quickly realized I had found my calling. I transitioned to teach world history for three school years at a private international school in Colombia until returning to the United States to teach ESL to international students while obtaining my teaching credential in social studies. Since receiving my credential I have spent the last three years teaching middle school and high school in California public schools while developing youth lacrosse programs.
When I am not in the classroom, you can find me outdoors! I love getting outside with my wife and dogs, sailing, backpacking, and traveling to new places. I live my life with a positive attitude and a curiosity to learn and understand the world around me. This is the same energy that I share with each and every student that I have the opportunity of interacting with.
